Overwhelmed? Find Your Control In 6 Easy Steps!

Running a business and working sales can be one of the most overwhelming experiences. There is a reason that a very small percentage make it. When overwhelm creeps in, the door opens wide open for doubt, imposter syndrome, and negative thoughts.


Life presents various overwhelming moments, from the hustle of being too busy to the quiet struggle of not being busy enough, and from grappling with serious health concerns to navigating unexpected circumstances. It is a part of the human experience that no one gets to escape. Yet, within the chaos, lies an opportunity to filter these overwhelming feelings, transforming them into a renewed sense of purpose and resilience. We can filter the overwhelming feelings into a renewed feeling altogether.


Seven years ago, I was completely overwhelmed with life. I was 6 months pregnant, in massive debt, with two children and no good job prospects. We had just lost everything we owned and was living with my parents while Nathan went to school for truck driving. We did not know it then, but those years shaped so much of who we would become and a much better understanding of dealing with pressure, stress and overwhelming feelings.


This is temporary. All pain is temporary. There will absolutely be new pains and new joys in your life. Understanding there will always be a new problem to solve, circumstances to feel and pleasures to embrace. Enjoy these 5 simple steps to reclaim yourself.


Here are 6 simple steps to conquering Overwhelm in your life.

  1. Prioritize Tasks. Break down your to-do list into smaller, manageable tasks. Identify what needs immediate attention and what can wait. Focus on one thing at a time. I have a FREE template to help you with this!

  2. Delegate Responsibilities. Where possible, share the workload. Delegate tasks to others and don't be afraid to ask for help. Teamwork can significantly alleviate feelings of overwhelm. This is the root for many and yet the hardest to let go of.

  3. Take A Short Break. Taking a short break from the business throughout the day can do wonders for your mind. Taking a break allows your brain to utilize creative thinking from the line and paper.

  4. Learn to Say No. Every YES is a NO to 5 other things. Assess your commitments and be willing to decline additional tasks if your plate is already full. NO is a complete sentence and others will live.

  5. Reflect and Adjust. Periodically assess your workload and strategies. Adjust your approach as needed to maintain a healthy balance for yourself. Small adjustments can make large impacts!
